Mr. Prather represents management exclusively in all areas of employment and labor relations, including jury litigation of employment claims in both state and federal Courts.  He also regularly represents employers in administrative proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the United States Department of Labor.

Mr. Prather has been instrumental in developing and presenting continuing education and training programs in many areas of employee relations and jury trial litigation. He is an annual Contributing Editor of Annual Review of Developments in Business and Corporate Litigation (ABA 2006-2010) and Workplace Privacy: Real Answers and Practical Solutions (Thompson 2000). He has been annually recognized by his peers since 2003 in each edition of the Best Lawyers in America and annually in Chambers USA: America’s Leading Business Lawyers. Best Lawyers named Mr. Prather as the "Memphis Best Lawyers Employment Law-Mangement Lawyer of the Year" for 2012.  Since 2006, he consistently has been selected as a Mid-South Super Lawyer by Law and Politics and also has received recognition on its lists of Top 100 Tennessee Mid-South Super Lawyers and Top 50 Memphis Mid-South Super Lawyers.  Mr. Prather has also been recognized as a fellow of both the American College of Labor and Employment Lawyers and the Litigation Counsel of America. He is a founding member of the Wage and Hour Defense Institute.

Mr. Prather holds a B.A. degree summa cum laude and a J.D. degree from the University of Memphis.  While attending law school, he served as Editor-in-Chief of The University of Memphis Law Review.  Upon graduation in 1982, Mr. Prather served as law clerk for United States District Judge Robert M. McRae, Jr.

Mr. Prather is admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Second, Fifth, Sixth, and Eighth Circuits, various federal district courts and the Tennessee Supreme Court.  Mr. Prather is a member of the American Bar Association’s Sections on Labor and Employment Law and Litigation, the Defense Research Institute, the Tennessee Bar Association and SHRM.  He is a Director of the Management Labor and Employment Roundtable, a past director of the Memphis Bar Association, past Chairman of the Labor and Employment Sections of both the Memphis Bar Association and the Tennessee Bar Association, and a former Supreme Court appointee to the Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education.
